Sallie Harper, MA, LPC
Licensed Professional Counselor and Life Coach
I am a Licensed Professional Counselor with seventeen years experience in private practice and other settings, including military bases, prisons, and hospitals. I work primarily with individuals, couples, children and families. I am experienced in the field of substance abuse counseling and recovery.
My approach to counseling is eclectic - I use what is appropriate for the client with whom I am working.
Most of my work is solution-focused brief counseling, but I can also work with clients over a longer period of time, using depth psychology.
For couples, I typically utilize Dr. John Gottman's research-based approach, as well as Dr. David Richo's mindfulness books.
For children and families, I utilize family systems theory, and also Montessori's approach to child development and early learning.
I am a certified HeartMath provider, and I have also trained as a Montessori teacher.
I have had various roles in life that include parent, spouse, community organizer, counselor, and life coach. I have worked with people from all walks of life, including people with disabilities, artists, teachers, people starting out, and people starting over.
I would say the common thread running through all these roles has been change agent. I look forward to assisting you with the changes you would like to make in your life.
